40 Days of Willingness
Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant, and I am willing to accept whatever he wants. May everything you have said come true.” Luke 1:38
What would you be willing to do for one million dollars?
What would you be willing to do to be in the Guinness Book of World Records?
What would you be willing to do for a Klondike bar?
Mary was willing to say “yes” to God. But was she able to say “no”? Mary could have said no. God gave us all the free will to choose. She could have said no and God’s plan of salvation still would have come to fruition. But she would have missed out on the blessings that come with saying “yes”.
Mary responded saying she was the Lord’s servant. She was willing to bond herself to Him because she loved Him and she knew she was more blessed being bonded to God, than doing her own thing. She said “may it happen according to your Rhema“. Rhema means “revelation”. May it happen according to the revelation the angel just declared to me.
And the revelation that Jesus brings to us? If we say “yes” to God, we will receive the blessing of eternal life; and that is a pretty good Christmas gift!
