The Feast of the Father
“But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.” ~ Luke:15:32
The parable is about two sons and a father. The father represents God. So many have trouble relating to God as their father because they did not have a good relationship with their earthly father. Some never even knew their earthly father. But our earthly fathers are not God. And God is not like our earthly fathers. He is a perfect Father, and “every good and perfect gift comes down from our Heavenly Father above”.
The father in the parable is rejoicing because his son has come home. But he also rejoices over the one who is already home. God loves us! And whether we are separated from Him by rebellion or separated from Him by trying to be our own savior; He knows we need Him. We need Him to come and get us because we are not even capable of asking for His help. Sometimes “the only thing greater than our ignorance is our arrogance” (Jeff Allen – comedian).
Hear your Heavenly Father’s voice calling to you, “Come and eat at the feast prepared just for you”!
