Game Highlights

I am not much into sports.  I do like to watch golf and equestrian jumping.  My husband says I’m weird!  If I am going to watch sports, I really just want the game highlights.  It’s better to watch the 11 o’clock news and see the really cool replays.  The rest of the game is rather boring.

Sometimes being a pastor is like playing sports.  Some parts are rather boring.  But there are parts that are really exciting.  They are the parts that make being a pastor WORTH being a pastor.  Today was a “game highlight” day.  Today I received new members into the church, baptized a baby, and baptized three new Believers in Christ.  Yeah, that’s what I’m talkin’ about!  It’s the stuff that makes your heart rejoice over being called to preach the message of Jesus.  It makes the rest of the stuff, the boring stuff, doable.

Some days you ask yourself why you signed up for this gig of being a pastor.  And sometimes you ask yourself 20x in one week!  But then Sunday comes and you pray over someone to receive Jesus as their Savior or you kneel next to someone and help them surrender their biggest problem to God and you know THIS is what you signed up for!

We all want to make a difference in this world and we want to be part of something that is bigger than us.  Today I had the privilege of being part of something that was much bigger than me.  I had the privilege of being part of the grand plan of God.

Do you want to be part of something bigger?  Then you need to get in there and start fighting the good fight of faith.  Some parts are boring, but the game highlights are out of this world.

Keep fighting the good fight of faith!
