Seven Days

Is this the kind of fast I have chosen, only a day for people to humble themselves? Is it only for bowing one’s head like a reed and for lying in sackcloth and ashes? Is that what you call a fast, a day acceptable to the Lord? – (Isaiah 58:5)

In a little more than a week, but around seven days, we will sign the title work and close the deal on a permanent facility. Plumb Line Community Church has been seeking God’s will and direction. And, as the time draws closer, Satan has certainly “upped the ante”.  Some of you don’t really believe in the Devil’s ways. You must not have ever watched CNN or the Detroit Lions. But he has his ways and his plan is act work.

As the pastor of PLCC, I would like to call all of you to a fast. It is a time to humble ourselves and fix our eyes on God in a determined way. Some of you cannot hold a Biblical fast. But you can fast from SOMETHING. Could you take a day to fast from the internet? Facebook? Television? Could you take time to fast from dessert? Some of you CAN hold a Biblical fast. Would you commit to fast from a meal or for a day?

But it is not simply the lack of food and/or media I am interested in. I am interested in you using that time to spend it with God. Pray that He will pour out His Spirit on the people. Pray He will fill the facility with His Spirit. Pray His anointing will go with us and others will be drawn to Him.

We need God now more than the first day! We need His Spirit and Presence to go with us like He did the Israelites and Moses. We need the Spirit of Christ to descend.

Join me this week in fasting and praying. Let’s see what God will do.

Keep fighting the GOOD fight of faith!

One Comment on “Seven Days

  1. My favorite hymn and perfect reminder:

    A mighty fortress is our God,
    a bulwark never failing;
    our helper he amid the flood
    of mortal ills prevaling.
    For still our ancient foe
    doth seek to work us woe;
    his craft and power are great,
    and armed with cruel hate,
    on earth is not his equal.

    2. Did we in our own strength confide,
    our striving would be losing,
    were not the right man on our side,
    the man of God’s own choosing.
    Dost ask who that may be?
    Christ Jesus, it is he;
    Lord Sabaoth, his name,
    from age to age the same,
    and he must win the battle.

    3. And though this world, with devils filled,
    should threaten to undo us,
    we will not fear, for God hath willed
    his truth to triumph through us.
    The Prince of Darkness grim,
    we tremble not for him;
    his rage we can endure,
    for lo, his doom is sure;
    one little word shall fell him.

    4. That word above all earthly powers,
    no thanks to them, abideth;
    the Spirit and the gifts are ours,
    thru him who with us sideth.
    Let goods and kindred go,
    this mortal life also;
    the body they may kill;
    God’s truth abideth still;
    his kingdom is forever.
