You’re Half Way Through

It’s June 2020! You’re halfway through the year.

Every year I make resolutions. Goals for the year ahead. I did the same in January 2020. I just didn’t know the universe would conspire against all of humanity. It’s been discouraging and that’s probably a huge understatement.

But yesterday I took a look at my goals for the year again. I try to do this once a quarter and realign myself. What did I notice? That I actually reached some of my goals already. And I’m right on target for a few others.

Now, it’s true that some of my goals have come to a screeching halt. Some have been scrapped. And others have been redesigned. But I was initially surprised by the ones I achieved.

It’s like magic, this goal setting. But not really. Goal setting moves us in a certain direction even when we’re not consciously thinking about it.

One of my goals was to publish 12 podcast episodes by December. My 14th episode will post next week. One of my goals was to run 280 miles by December. I have already run 190 miles in six months.

I’m sharing this because we need a new perspective. I need a new perspective. I don’t want 2020 to win! I want to finish this year stronger, wiser, and more hopeful than I began. And I want you to do the same.

It’s June You’re halfway through the year. Take a step back and get an honest perspective. Make some small changes and try again. You’re smart, but not smart enough to coast through 2020. You will also need to work hard and try new things.

  1. Thanks for those inspiring words. I find setting and achieving goals encourages mental well-being.
