Author: Day Ten

You rejected the holy and righteous one and asked that a murderer be released to you instead. 15 You killed the author of life, the very one whom God raised from the dead. We are witnesses of this. – Acts 3:14-15
Peter and John went to pray. They met a lame man on the way. He asked for alms and held out his palm and this is what Peter did say, “In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.”
This is an old Bible story song for kids. When my children were small, we had a VHS tape of Bible songs. VHS. My children are VHS tape old! In the song, Peter and John heal a man who cannot walk. They are later questioned by religious authorities about their action. They answered them saying, “We didn’t do it. It was the power of Jesus, the Author of life.”
Jesus has power and authority even in this world. And this power is life-giving. Any time we see Jesus’ power at work, it is always bringing life, healing, and redemption. Things are renewed, redeemed, restored, and repurposed by the power of Christ. If you hear someone claiming they are working in the Name of Jesus, then we should see signs of life. If there is no life, then it is not the power of Christ.
We often see power used to destroy or oppress. When did you last see power used to bring forth or enhance life? How has the power of Jesus brought life and renewal to you?
